Plate looks like SJD/SJO 863 K/X but nothing found, and genuine military truck would not have civilian plate. |

Looks good, but as we don't yet have one listed there may be other names in use. |

FH70 is the most commonly used name for these. |

.... which would also be a first for us. |

Seems another name is LMLC, particularly for flatbed transporters known as "Beavertail". But again we don't have one yet to compare. |

Taking a closer look, it's an S90 rather than an FH70. LMLC (Low Mobility Load Carrier) is a military classification rather than a Foden designation though nonetheless would be useful to include in the model name or extra info. |

That's the 4th suggestion now, all of which are new ground for us. But there's enough pictures on google of similar things to go for it now. And they give dates which suggest 78+ for this front with FODEN silhouette lettering. Which means the 1981 Oxford-issue plate SJO 862X would be a good match for something near Greenham Common (although still a civilian plate). However it comes up as Make OPEL Model REKORD Description VAN Fuel Type Petrol which is an intriguing result in itself (they were sold here "in limited numbers" Jan 80 to June 82 with 1979cc petrol as manual or automatic), but no help here. |
