Bentley Mk VI Standard Steel Saloon. Known as a Big bore/Small boot model, due to the late Mk VI cars having the larger engine but the smaller boot with the drop down lid and separate spare wheel compartment below. Anachronistic late 1960s Desmo Boomerang wing mirror. -- Last edit: 2016-01-12 15:58:11 |

The first Bentley R-types delivered to the public were B20RT, 06.52, B32RT, 06.52, B34LRT, 06.52. B76RT 07.52 and B78RT 08.52 No further cars were delivered until 09.52. B20RT went to Australia in the 1960s and was Tudor Grey. B32RT went to New Zealand in 1952 and was also Tudor Grey. B34LRT also went to the colonies, and was left hand drive, but was black. B76RT went to Holland in 2004 and was black. B78RT went to Denmark in 1956 and was black. Is there a picture showing the back of this car? -- Last edit: 2016-01-12 19:24:45 |

Thank you for considering the above information. It is, however still not totally conclusive, as the major factor is the 07.1952 date of first registration which could be in error. A view of the back or of the steering wheel would be conclusive, either showing the rear wings and boot, or the type of controls fitted to the boss of the steering wheel. |

The only possible extra view of the rear is as the car draws away, a slight glimpse of the top hump of the boot is seen. No interior views are seen at all. |

Thank you. I think it will have to remain inconclusive. |

I have now looked it up and it is #B252PV, 1952 Mark VI Standard Saloon, originally in Shell Grey to Major E.G.Wood on 7/1952, org. reg. AST1, later HST555. Even without this information, I think just possible in the picture in which Father Brown opens the rear door, that there is the extra spat on the rear wheel arch that only the Mark VI had. Also, most R-types have a glass trianglein the vent windows to prevent rain from leaking in. This car hasnt. -- Last edit: 2016-01-21 15:42:59 |
