That is a pretty big mistake. They are correct that Euclid was purchased by GM in 1953, but Euclid and LeTourneau-Westinghouse were direct competitors in the earthmover market. As far as I can tell the two companies had no relation to each other. LeTourneau-Westinghouse was formed in 1953 when Westinghouse Air Brake Company purchased LeTourneau's earthmoving equipment line. The hyphenated name was phased out in the mid-1960s in favor of WABCO. |
