These trolleybus were imported from Italy and arrived in Rio de Janeiro in the end of 1958. Some sources say it was FIAT, some others General Electric, probably both are right, being the electric supply by GE and the body by FIAT. All confirm Italy as the manufacturer country. And 1958 as YM. |

This sounds a reasonable suggestion, trolleybuses in UK were often supplied by three manufacturers, chassis, body and electrical components. |

Many of these self-bearing structure trolleybusese were made by Breda Pistoiesi for South American market. They were a result of a big industrial co-operation between Fiat, Breda Pistoiesi, Alfa Romeo and CGE, that was the Italian subsidiary of General Electric. Model name was Breda Pistoiesi FI311; some used Alfa Romeo 910 groups (i.e. Montevideo, Rosario and a batch for Santos) while other were based on Fiat 2405 groups (i.e. second batch for Santos). |
