1958 Nash Ambassador. I have never seen one even by photo, but it is written on the trunk. Custom also. Link to "www.google.com.br"

So it appears.
But this is most interesting. The Nash (and Hudson) names were dropped here after the 1957 season.
Was it different for non-domestic American Motors cars??

Glass's info for UK agrees Nash and Hudson names were replaced by Rambler in Oct 56, but suggests Nash Ambassador Eight [V-16501] continued until Oct 1957 in Super and Custom versions before Rambler renaming [V-27001]. However Glass's info on 50s-60s US stuff in UK has sometimes caught us out before as it seems to often block-copy US info without being tightened to what was actually sold in UK.

Maybe a Canadian built car and maybe there the Nash and Hudson names were a bit longer used...

Can anyone comment on this one? I don't feel particularly comfortable with listing any car here as a "1958 Nash" based on all the info I have ever read that the Nash name was retired completely after the 1957 model year.

Could whoever first bought this car have had the dealer just stick it on the car? Perhaps a long-time Nash buyer who just couldn't give up on the name?

With the blurry photo, are we really absolutely sure it reads "Nash"?

It does look like "Nash" to me. However it may not be a new car - I've got a Great Big Book of the World's registration plates which gives dates for HK plate series (eg 1234 up to 1951, HK 1234 from 1951 to 57, XX 1234 from 1957 to 1958, AA 1234 1958 onwards) but these do not work very well when I tried them a few days ago - eg /vehicle.php?id=857920 and some other entries in that film. Possible explanation - HK cars in 1950s did not retain their plates when resold, but got new issues instead. So a car for sale at this 1958 show without a number plate does not have to be brand new - it could be secondhand. I have no idea if this was actually the system in place, but it makes sense as one explanation for the inconsistencies across the other HK film, and presumably could explain this hiccup.

Thanks, but that really doesn't address the issue of whether or not there was a "1958 Nash".
Without some authority somewhere, I'm inclined to re-list as "!958 Rambler Ambassador".
