The M2 design was recognised as having the potential for general mechanized infantry use, which spawned the larger bodied M3 Half Track. Both the M2 and M3 were ordered into production in late 1940, with M2 contracts let to the Autocar Company, White and Diamond-T. The first vehicles were received by the army in 1941. Maybe would it be congruent to have all of them dated "1941".
PeteP ◊ 2015-09-27 10:08	I don't think it is an M2 as they had a locker behind the driver's door which was deleted on the M3. It is a pretty poor pic, but there doesn't seem to be the two clasps on the armour. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/M2_Half_Track_Car
