1970 intro in US, when all US 124 saloon and estate got the 1438cc engine, so this was the new base model with 4-light grille (which apparently was used on the estate as well??). -- Last edit: 2017-10-07 02:15:25 |

No, the wagons had dual headlights until they stopped in 1974: |

(I'm getting to grips with a book on US imports, and its foibles - sometimes it seems to say stuff which is nearly right rather than absolutely correct .....) |

I have two different books, and neither is really complete with info. AutoLit.com, which sells a lot on eBay tends to have lots of brochures from imports. |

It's the Standard Catalog of Imported Cars, 1946-2002 - found a cheap orphan online. Fascinating, with huge amount of info, lots of minute detail, but I get the impression it sometimes merges parallel info so for instance 2 or 3 variations/changes of a car become a single strand entry (such as this apparent 124 headlight change). And its accompanying photo selection is rubbish - only vaguely linked to the text, often using non-US-spec pictures, and/or from different years. |

Yes, that's one of the ones I have. The info is not as complete as the American car companions. Does better with some European cars, but is complete rubbish for Asian cars (unless you think all Toyotas should be lumped together from 1971-79). For a lot of the makes, it focuses on one or two models and ignores the others in the lineup, especially entry-level cars. |

124 standard sedan (sold in the US until 1969) and the wagon version had single headlights. The Special (only sedan and available in the US since 1970) had quad headlights. |
