I was going to say "cool that it's still around," but what's with it first being registered in 1987? Has the registration been transferred to another similar E-type?

It's probably been off the road at some time prior to 1987, possibly being restored. If the owner can provide proof of the original registration the DVLA will allow the vehicle to carry its original number (which, whatever they say, was issued in 1967).
