Interesting. I took a long look to see if Thames with windows or Ford Escort Estate. Outcome - I agree Thames with windows. Key point is fuel filler - eg Thames versus Escort. Surprising that Ford made the 2 different formats?? Where was Escort filler?? Also windows here are similar spacing to Escort, but pillar is different (thicker and definitely part of body shell). |

It's quite simple really. The Escort and Squire had the tank/filler at the back, as the space taken by the vans' tank was needed by the estate cars' rear seats and footwell. The vans had a flat floor running from the back doors to just behind the front seats, with the fuel tank under the front part ahead of the rear axle. http://www.simoncars.co.uk/ford/squire100e.html Expand picture on top row right to see fuel filler.
