Sure wasn't a similar 1974 to 1978 Audi 50???...I recall that VW Polo had two tags back, one with "VOLKSWAGEN"at left, and another with "POLO" on right edge of hatchback...while the Audi version had just one tag back at right where was written together, either Brand and model name,"Audi50"...

PS If was an Audi, should be(luxury bumper with overriders)a 50 GL trim

Bien vu! aAlso the chrome sidetrim indicates towards Audi 50 GL, I'd say.

As I recall, this little car was sold as an Audi before it was marketed as a VW. Did it continue under the Audi label after VW started selling it?

Yea,but while Audi 50 lasted thru 1974 to 1978 only,VW Polo I was built meanwhile thru 1975 to 1981

PS Giugiaro-styled(like other Seventies'VW-Audis,like 1972 Audi 80,1973 Passat,1974 Golf and 1974 Scirocco)

In the german "Brief" the manufacturer of the Audi 50 is "VW Volkswagenwerk".
