Ce ne serait pas une Rallye, par hasard ?

Non. Just a GL or Special in a metallic gold/yellow - my mum had one in this colour.

Really?? That`s quite shocking as they weren't even slapped together at Ryton or Linwood.

Because my dad worked for what became Chrysler, he was offered lease cars from their full range, which included French stuff after about 71, so the Rootes-jewels were interwoven with Chrysler 180s, Simca 1000s and 1501 Specials as they were offered, and later on various Peugeot 309s, 405s and 306s. I've got a vague memory they offered Aus Chryslers in late 60s and even RHD Matra Bagheeras on the scheme, but that is not definite (although I've still got a RHD English language Bagheera brochure somewhere which was in his papers). He also had the ability to buy one new car a year at trade discount for close family and friends, so one aunt had a string of Simca 1100 Estates, and a few folk got Avengers and Chrysler Alpines. This scheme was often used to clear slow stock, sometimes with extra discounts, so was fairly generous. After he was made redundant, he was given a lifetime entitlement to continue in the scheme, and when he died he had a 6-month old 306 saloon which mum was offered at 50% of trade price - absolute bargain.

Rootes/Chrysler/Peugeot were not alone in this type of benefit - as I grew up in south Birmingham, we knew loads of folk with BMC Longbridge connection who had similar schemes and opportunities.

dsl, the same (discunts on Fiats and related makes) happened to my father who has worked for Fiat. I bought a 500 in 2011 for my wife using his discount. he retired in 1991.
