That's a London Buses National Greenway on a Red Arrow service. - how you classify it is open to discussion, I guess. In 1992 London Country and East Lancs coachbuilders collaborated to refurbish Leyland Nationals - the result was described as a 'Greenway'. The London Country originals were a motley collection of Nationals and National 2s from various sources. The London Buses examples were conversions from LS-class Leyland-National 2s used on Red Arrow services, they became the GLS class. So I suppose the best designation is a Leyland-National 2 Greenway. |

We have one other listed simply as an 'East Lancs Greenway' (/vehicle_616543-East-Lancs-Greenway-1991.html), though I would suggest listing them under 'Leyland National 2 East Lancs Greenway'. -- Last edit: 2015-07-10 19:06:59 |

In line with convention on British buses, it's certainly a Leyland-National, and this one is a Mk 2. Can't speak for the exact designation of the other one, and certainly Mk 1s and Mk 2s in a variety of lengths were converted. Makes sense to credit East Lancs, but from what I can gather the conversion of the running units was carried out by London and Country before East Lancs refurbished the bodies. So you could argue it's a Leyland-National 2 London and Country East Lancs Greenway - OK, maybe I'm being silly now....... |
