Seems to have the hood side vents of a GMC CCKW indeed, and not the (less numerous) ones of a Chevrolet G506. By the way, did this latter model had a canvas-top version? Long wheelbase, so a 353 model, plus the cargo body. CCKW are all 2½-ton 6x6 trucks, and 353 models are all long wheelbase ones (they would be 352 models otherwise). So using 2½-ton 6x6 LWB as complements is a redundancy. The CCKW was unveiled in 1941. The canvas top versions came in 1942 or 1944, depending on the sources. -- Last edit: 2015-07-05 20:29:51 |

I believe the common 1.5 ton Chevy of WWII was a closed cab as cargo truck. There was a panel van version, some open cab bomb service units (similar to the Ford GTB and I think listed on the site) and COE versions but the standard appearing cargo truck was a closed cab. Comments? |
