A 1940 Buick. Since the sidemount covers were different on a Limited from any other 1940 Buick model with the fenderwell spares, we know it is a top-of-the-line Limited. It is most likely the Limited Convertible Phaeton (230 built for U.S., 20 more for export). Slight chance could be a Limited Streamlined Convertible Phaeton (seven built). Has to be the a 4-Door Phaeton, as that was only Limited convertible style. Warner Bros. had at least one of these cars, which appeared in many movies, including the final scenes of Casablanca. But the car here is apparently a different one...looks like it was yellow, while WB car was a brownish color. |
