It could be a '72 Opel Rekord D based South-African Chevrolet. |

It think it is either Vauxhall, Opel or Chevrolet...might be ascona or Record... |

It has 4 round headlamps so a ZA Chevrolet Rekord or GM Ranger (export derivative of Rekord D) : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Rekord |

Agree highly polished door handles also match early (1972-4) Opel Rekord based vehicle, later ones were grooved (as were all Vauxhalls) |

Sorry guys, should have assisted earlier on this one, but missed it. This car was sold as the Chevrolet 2500/ 3800/ 4100 in ZA, never called the Rekord in the local market. This is a six cylinder (i.e. 3,8 or 4,1) as the 2500 four-pot had two headlights only. Looking at the roof and the chrome trim, I put this to be the top 4100LS model (grew up with one, BTW). The Ranger looked considerably different - quite a few body panels were considerably changed and it had a total different grille. |
