1949 Warwickshire footage. Plate is FMJ (Jan 48) or FWJ (early 39)

How you work out which model this is, is beyond me.

The cab dates from 1936 as CI series (CI4, CI5 and CI6), followed by the DI series in the early 1940s. Each series were basically 3-ton 4-ton and 7½-ton rigids 4,6 or 8 wheel (simple) trucks.

This looks like either ERF DI4 or DI5 (the light trucks) to me without a side view?

I think I can see Marston Bricks on the front?? Which would be Bedfordshire so FMJ registration - Jan 1948.

Agreed it says Marsdon or similar. I was thinking Marston (beer) so expecting a Derbyshire plate. No other view - it's onscreen for a long time but only from the front.

Marston's brewery is located in Burton on Trent STAFFS.

registration on their vehicles would probably have been Burton, FA, or Staffs, RE or RF.

Derbyshire, where's that?

BTW, well done on finding the detail on this truck.

Somehow changing the contrast, the name on the front registered with my brain, when looking for the registration number being potentially from Bedfordshire.

I remember Marston Valley Bricks from the 1950s and any journey from London to Bedford on the train would pass the brickworks. The brick lorries were a common sight at the time.

Past research on ERF trucks also paid off.

The police bike, JAC 401, is ridden by PC Wilf Chesters in the north of Warwickshire.

Following trying to understand the 1930-1948 ERF CI6 truck model codes elsewhere, it now appears that CI68- would be a 8-wheel truck 14-15 tonner.
The front view here doesn't help to confirm it, although the shadows under the driver's side could indicate a second steering axle.
