I assume it is supposed to be the same police van as the Morris Mini Minor van also listed. Still has the same plates as such, and they are registered to the Morris van too (although used on a Morris J4 seen a lot in The Royal and occaisionally on Heartbeat too) |

"Seen quite often", but used by main characters in lots of episodes? Or just seen often in minor roles? |

This van was sold on eBay recently after the series ended, along with a Morris 1000 Traveller and a Wolseley 1500. The van was listed as a 1982 Mini 95 in the sale though; it would appear that they just swapped the plates as there weren't many visible changes in the Mini van over the years so just used a cheaper late van for filming. |

Main has Mini bonnet shield (to match 80s Mini 95), 2nd thumb 60s Morris bonnet badge (and FWIW overriders). |

The van in main image at Scripps garage is a Leyland Mini 1000 van first registered 02 Jan 1978 and was used in Heartbeat (on show plates) from Series 10 to 18. I know this because I bought the van on Ebay in 2009 when they finished filming Heartbeat. |

@Al-man - thanks for the info. We keep these vans after 1969 with Mini as make to avoid confusion and scattering - DVLA uses all sorts of descriptions (Leyland, Austin Morris, Austin-Morris, BMC etc) which just cause chaos. We do have a few various Leyland Minis, but those are specific Australian branding. |

BOA430B appeared as a minivan in over 50 episodes of Heartbeat, was always used by main characters and the Importance (star) rating is therefore very clearly ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
