Bandeirante,1983 Model-year(the grille that shown was adopted just by that year)

Short Toyota Bandeirante story:
The Bandeirante was the 1st Toyota off-road vehicle built under license abroad;former ones(made by '50s end)were practically Land-Cruisers sold with Toyota engines, soon switched at Mercedes diesel ones of midsize-trucks origins(easy to find on the place 'cause presence of a truck and bus mfg.plant Mercedes-Benz in Sao Paulo State of Brazil, same state where were based Toyota's locally facilities also);Toyota do Brasil put out also some specialized versions(based on Long Bed Pick-up model),such the Crew-Cab Pick-up and the Stake-truck with dropsides;for many years('50-'80s)Brazilian Toyota Land Cruisers were identified as former LC shapes,FJ 51-BJ 55 series;only around early '90s
was done an attempt to modernize all front end(elliptic badge, horizontal bars matt black grille, squared headlights--for make seems it similar at Land-Cruiser BJ70 series of 1984)and running gears(turbocharged diesel engine, seems),but was late;last Bandeirantes leaves the gates of Brazilian plant in 2001.

PS For other info, take a look at these sites:

--www.bestcars-website.com.br (hope to had write http better;click on "Carros do Passado"section;it offers an exhaustive story on Brazilian and Jap LC's;also that site is in Portuguese idiom)
