Either Superior or Wayne. I was going to say Kenworth but they never built buses with split-sash windows. |

No, this is no Ford. Those fenders are from GM, and since GMC school buses are less common, that makes ths a 1948-54 Chevrolet 6700 |

This is a Chevrolet 6700 First series 1-1/2 ton chassis with Superior Coach school bus body. The chassis was built by Chevrolet at their Norwood, OH plant. The body was built by Superior in Lima, OH. Note the 7 side bench seat row windows. If there were 8 windows it would be a 2-ton 6800 chassis. On March 25,1955 Chevrolet unveiled the Second Series Task Force chassis -- a rare mid-season replacement. The look of the Chevrolet / GMC chassis on this bus could have dated from 1948 up to March, 1955. However, this Superior Coach school bus body has features common in 1952-1954. Note the original vintage flat window safety glass is delaminating, showing its true age fogging around edges. -- Last edit: 2015-11-15 22:25:45 |

Part of the 1947-55 Advance-Design truck line. As said by Vilero, here with 1954 front face. For the record, 6702 and 6802 were both "2-ton" bus chassis. The "1½-ton" bus chassis were 4102 and 4502. |
