This is a 1951 DeSoto Custom four door sedan : the 1952 DeSoto Custom four door sedan six cylinder was almost identical but had tha name " DeSoto" written in spaced block letters above the hood ,whereas in 1951 the hood nameplate was in italics as on this one .Not visible here , the rear stainless rocker panel shield was also different on the 1952 car.The 1952 DeSoto V8's had a false hood air scoop.The two-paint combination was an extra cost item in both years. |

it may resemble a Mercury to some, due to the fact that countless 1949-51 Mercs now use this same style of grill.. |
