The picture which once started this rumour in the early 1970s - now seen in various books - in fact shows a conversion by the Economy Coach Co. This one is said to be a factory ambulance. And on a different website we even get a credit, as follows: classified ad on carscoms wrote 1953 Chevrolet factory Ambulance. A true survivor, rare as hens teeth. Solid California car, has California title (titled off original engine number). Completely equipped with lights, siren, two way radio, medical cabinets, EMT jump seat, stretcher etc. etc. Runs and drives excellent. This is a true factory built ambulance, it is the same size and wheelbase as a Sedan Delivery and fits comfortably in a single car garage. This particular car was used as a movie prop in American Horror Story, season 4 episode 11 and is listed in the I.M.C.D.B (Internet Movie Cars Data Base) registry. A very cool collectors car that is sure to draw a crowd wherever it goes. (...)
