Looks like a Vauxhall Viscount on its way to the scrapyard. |

Why, it was so unreliable? |
◊ 2015-01-11 18:01 |
If it would be that unreliable, it would be towed |

Rust, dear boy, just rust. The engine was absolutely bomb-proof, as used in hundreds of thousands of Bedford trucks and buses for years and years. Vauxhalls were always champion rust boxes, up to the introduction of the Viva HC and the Cavalier, at which point they started to get better. My 1958 Victor Series 1F fell apart at an alarming rate, but I later had an Astra SXi Estate which was a real flyer, and a diesel Cavalier which was extremely reliable and comfortable, if a bit slower. -- Last edit: 2015-01-11 18:13:02 |

Then Vauxhall should have called it 'discount'... -- Last edit: 2015-01-11 18:05:27 |

behind the Rolls, is it a dsl-Estate, resp. a cl82-love? -- Last edit: 2015-01-11 18:12:35 |

Avenger by the looks of the trail of bits falling off it. |

I guess road markings haven't reached Staffordshire yet ??? |

Does it look there like: /vehicle.php?id=475838 I haven't been there yet, so my question. |

Back to the cars for a brief moment. Cresta Deluxe rather than Viscount for grille, looks 69-70 H plate. Not totally convinced the estate is Avenger (though colour is good match for 75 range) - I'd take a punt at something J - Datsun or perhaps Toyota. Now let the jolly jokes recommence ... |

I would remind you that my work included a long time spent at a tier 1 supplier, so I know exactly what rubbish the British motor industry turned out, I helped to produce a lot of it. |

Marston's Brewery comes highly recommended. I did a tour (piss-up in a brewery) of the facility late last year. |

I've a soft spot for Staffordshire oatcakes and of course Burton-On-Trent is the home of the mighty Marmite as well as Marstons (and Pedigree is a pretty good pint). |

I must admit, that for long years I've done adjustice to British beer (maybe caused by the common prejudices in Germany about that). Some Ales are really great Unfortunately it wasn't possible to connect the last IMCDb-user-meeting with http://www.ayrshirebeerfestival.co.uk/ ,although it was hold at the location just two days after the IMCDb-event Maybe next time. Anyways, this will not have been my last trip to the UK. Againthis year I try to keep the hope to join http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/beaulieu-events/spring-autojumble But unfortunately it's just one week before the K 70-meeting, which I was (nearly violently) forced to organize it... -- Last edit: 2015-01-12 22:05:48 |

(Mrs Ingo breathes a quiet sigh of relief that they've sold out .....) |

She do so. But if I really could make that trip, she would not join me. She has no chance of vacation-days then and for her more important if the bad condition of her mother after a big heart-surgery. |
