I believe this is an L model due to the rubbers on the bumper, in 'Goldmetallic'? |

Yes, I am. With 331 cars Hongkong belonged to the bigger K 70-export markets outside Europe (3rd biggest in Asia after Japan and Israel). Yes. But the square lights doesn't mean much here, because it's the H4-version, not the basic Bilux-stuff. More crucial are the old fenders with the nex bumpers and the old front panel without the vents for the brake discs. And the colour "goldmetallic", which was available for MY 1971 and 1972. In 1973 -only 1973- followed "mayametallic". Plus the fact, that the RHD was introduced in November 1971, so there is no 1971-K 70 (old bumpers with the chrome edges) as RHD. RHD-K 70 always had the "L"-trim line, never the basic equipment. -- Last edit: 2015-01-02 21:08:23 |

K70 is very rare to be seen in Hong Kong. As I said before, in 1970s most of the VW in Hong Kong were Beetles, Vans & Typ 31. Since 1980s, only Golf sold well. When I found this K70 car, I doubt if it is really a K70. Very very very lucky to find this! |

As I've heard from the http://www.vwownerclub.org/forum/index.php some years ago, there shall be none K 70 left over in HK. |

K70 was unpopular among Hong Kong people, so none of them were left in Hong Kong. As I know, there are several Beetles, Vans and Typ 17 left in Hong Kong (Of course not too much). Last year I saw a Typ 17, produced in 1981, and then firstly licensed in Hong Kong in Feb 1982. -- Last edit: 2015-01-04 16:31:40 |
