Look at the distance between the front wheel and the driver's door.

I think it's an Isis.

Morris Isis the six-cylinder version of the Oxford and therefore longer bonnet and wings.

This has the longer front end as the comment from johnfromstaffs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_Isis . 1955 Isis Traveller S1 and 1956 S2 seem identical from what I can make out. Both very rare.

Isis is also the name of the river in Oxford - continues Morris habit of using names local to Cowley factory.

They made a very few S2 Travellers, but none with the all steel body as the Isis had dried up by then!

The Isis also had a different steering gear, using a Bishop cam steering box in front of the front suspension instead of the rack and pinion system behind it. The 2639 cc six was a lot larger than the 1489cc four, so presumably room had to be found from somewhere. I kept trying to persuade my Dad to buy an Isis, and even a Riley 2.6 but he was always deterred by the high fuel consumption. We did, in the end, get a six-pot, but it was a fairly unexciting Triumph 2000 Mk I, AUX 912B.

Wiki used to have a bit of a reputation for its 'accuracy'. Now, though, as an automotive reference source and probably myriad other subjects, it is a well-researched, immediate and reliable oracle.
One's sympathies with Dadfromstaffs - doubtless a hard working breadwinner managing a household budget; then there were more worldly concerns for him, like the Cold War.

Mk I Isis Traveller in the style of the Series III Oxford. A rarity today; the next series was more comely, the smaller cars of which were particularly well thought of. Indeed, the Series IV Oxford's Hindustan cousin thrives today.

I don't ever recall Dad concerned about the Cold War, but he had spent four years in a hot war in Egypt helping the RAF help Monty to fight Rommel. We passed the hundredth anniversary of his birth in April, unfortunately he only made two thirds of it.

The Isis II was a much nicer car than the Series I, but was a sales flop, too dear to compete with the big Fords and Vauxhalls, and too plain to match the tree wood dashboard and leather seat brigade, although it was leather trimmed. Morris never seemed to do big cars very well, except by providing the underpinnings for much more desirable Wolseleys. The decision not to waste rations on a "Farina Isis" was correct.

Compare and contrast with the Humber in front.
