what alloys? They didn't look like the BBS "Barock"-rims. |

It seems that there're several types of alloys http://forum.mercedes-benz-clubs.com/viewtopic.php?t=17820 . The car in question is a 1968+ 280 SE, because of the side rear view mirrors, the U.S. headlights (available for the European market from the introduction of the W 109 300 SEL 6.3) and the newer grill. (Also, the alloys were never available at the time for the earlier W 108, but of course some owners thought they looked nice and changed them afterwards.) -- Last edit: 2014-12-27 21:03:53 |

@zodiac: it's not easy to change the rims between the pre- and the post-1968 W108, because for that MY the size of wheels -rims incl.tires- was changed. IIRC also the offset and the bolt-circle ( correct translation? I cannot find the English word for "Lochkranz") became different. The US-style headlights are not a big deal, they are easily changeable and were after the introducion an optional extra at Mercedes Benz. Many W108-owners had changed them afterwards. Some, because they wanted to have the 6.3-look, but many due he reason, that the light yield of the double round H4-lights is much better than of the oval Bilux-gloom. |

@ingo: Thank you for pointing that out! Do you know any numbers? I can't find any under "rims" in Mercedes 1966 technical table book Link to "www.mercedes-benz-classic-store.com" . |

Hmm, odd, but right now I cannot find details at Wiki or Benz-forums. I must ask an expert the next time I see one. |
