1947 Studebaker Commander? |

More likely a Champion I think. |

Yes. Champion Starlight coupe. Very blurry but best I can tell, it has the 1947 style bumper guards. -- Last edit: 2014-11-13 02:10:24 |

Is the name Starlight correct? I can't find any reference to this name for 1947 or 1948, 1949 seems to be the first year for this name. |

It was not an official model name, that's why I put it under the extra info section. Studebaker just used it as a reference name for the 2-door models with the wrapped rear window. -- Last edit: 2014-11-13 14:32:13 |

I like to name the cars here like the manufacturers named them in thire sales brochures. Studebaker called this body type 'Coupe for five passengers' for 1947-1948 and 'Starlight Coupe' for 1949-1952. 1947 Coupe for five passengers 1948 Coupe for five passengers 1949 Starlight Coupe for five passengers 1950 5-pass. Starlight Coupe 1951 Starlight Coupe 1952 Starlight Coupe |

OK. You are correct. The name was not used in advertising until model year 1949. (Of course, it never appeared on the cars themselves.) -- Last edit: 2014-11-13 23:23:20 |
