Cette Magnum va faire des tonneaux vers la fin de la poursuite avec l'Eldorado '80 |

It's a '78. Taillights are different on a '79 |

I actually really like the look of this car. |

They used a couple of these during filming. Apparently one "split apart" when hitting a dip in the road. |

P.S. There's a goof there, look closely at the last two pics above from antp. The close-up of the front wheel shows the Magnum script with a badge beside it. In the last pic (which is the very next shot in the film after the close-up), the badge is centred beneath the Magnum script. Any significance there apart from two different cars maybe? |

Wasn't it the Eldorado? |

No, that was replaced because the plane crashed into it. |

You're right. I really should listen to the DVD commentary more often! -- Last edit: 2015-08-29 05:30:17 |

THE JUNKMAN TRIVIA! Two Magnums were wrecked. The first one took a bump too hardly and the unibody frame split in two. The second one was wrecked in the rollover scene. |

Apparently, this car was given a custom paintjob. Two-Tone paintjobs did exist for the Dodge Magnum but did not come in these colors. Also, note the matching Landau roof. The wheels are aftermarket Western Hurricane wheels, nowadays known as being an off-road style wheel, but look great on this type of car...It's period accessories at it's greatest! The Magnum badge is supposed to reside on the fender with a "XE" badge beneath it, but on one car the "XE" badge is beside the Magnum text. In 1978, the Magnum was offered a 318 V8, a 360 V8 and a 400 V8. In 1979, Dodge dropped the 400 V8, leaving only the 318 and the 360. When the car is upside down, you can see the optional hood padding when the hood pops open. You can also see the engine...can anyone i.d. the engine for us? You can also see that this car wasn't optioned with the optional sports mirrors which were more sleek and aerodynamic looking than the classic mirrors on this Magnum. Fun Fact, the Magnum's grille was inspired by the Cord 810, a FWD luxury car from the 1930's. -- Last edit: 2016-03-05 18:05:44 |

She has a lot of similarities with the St. Regis, especially the headlights. -- Last edit: 2016-05-15 11:26:25 |

Looks like a big block oil pan, so I'm guessing it had the 400 in it. Given the usage of the car in the movie, Halicki choosing one with the most powerful engine does make sense. |

But if it's an XE then it didnt come with a 400 so I would say it has to be a 360 E58 |

1978 XEs were available with the 400, it was dropped for 1979. |
