I do not think that it could be a 525: it wasn't sold in USA... |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_E28 524td, 528e, 533i, 535i, 535is... I guess that Adrian can give more info. But guessing a number is better for Lottery than for BMW |

It's always nice when people mention my name favorably. In late response, oddly enough this is a Euro model in NYC. From what a can make of the head-rest, I'd say it's a `81-`84 - they appear curved. I can't see the exhaust or the wheels very-well. But the wheels appear like early steel ones. Note the rear-side marker/reflector. It could be a 518i, 520i, 525e, or 528i. If I could see the details better it'd help. |

Thanks for the info But isn't there a US specs side light on the rear fender? (and front one too, actually) -- Last edit: 2006-12-20 22:35:42 |

True, it does have the drilled-in marker lamps/reflectors. US-spec cars were equipped with big bumpers with the side reflector/lamps built-in. The car above is a Euro-spec, with small bumpers, that was grey-marketed, and federalized by equiping the car with mandatory items like: catalytic converter, side reflectors, mph speedo, safety door-beams etc... - some grey-market cars escaped these US modifications. The one above clearly had these reflectors drilled-in once it arrived in the US. The bumpers usually were not changed. The mid-1980's was when grey-marketing was at an all-time-high. |
