These were made by Scania themselves in their Katrineholm plant, although they didn't found the plant originally. Scania bought SKV (Svenska Karosseriverkstäderna) (SWE: (roughly) Swedish coach works) inn tyhe late 60's and renamed it Scania. That in turn made Volvo buy Säffle Lättmetall in the late 70's or early 80's. -- Last edit: 2014-09-09 10:02:27 |

Perhaps I didn't explain it correctly. SKV in Katrineholm was one of the major coach works in Sweden and traces its roots back to 1918. But in those years they made bodies to various brands like Ford, Tidaholm, cars like Buick, but also on Volvo and Scania-Vabis. In the 50's they looked like this http://www.omnibuss.se/?page_id=106 and in the mid 60's like this http://www.tugboatlars.se/ScaniaBuss.htm (first one). When Sweden decided to change over to right hand traffic in September 1967 the government payed for the doors rebuild for buses not older than 10 years, many towns wanted new buses and consequently the coach builders became very profitable businesses. Because of that Scania-Vabis bought SKV in 1967 and renamed it Scania-Bussar AB, a fully owned company within Scania, and continued to build buses and coaches until 2001, when they changed production to their Södertälje plant. This is indeed a Scania CN 113, but no coach builder is necessary. If it has to have one it must be 'Scania-Bussar AB', but that means all the other Scania city buses has to be renamed as well... -- Last edit: 2014-09-09 10:00:57 |
