Scratch on the origin from my previous initial claim three years ago, got contradicted by Wikipedia upon revisiting these entries again when coming back for this other movie entry (where one of these vans was listed there); only the first generation models were Japanese origin as they were just an enlarged version of the seventh generation Hijet, even sharing that generation Hijet's S80 codes. Earlier models even got the Hijet nameplate until at the start of the 90s, which we'll get to that shortly. Restoring Indonesian built tag and Made for RI tag. The second generation S90 series after this generation was the only Zebra generation to have the full Indonesian origin. Negative, there were actually design changes between year by its exterior, but if we're talking about that by a whole, only the front center 'DAIHATSU' hallmark badging was available in those years as an optional part. These movie scenes looks too dated to identify. More local people here in the internet have been recently posting more brochures of this generation, bringing more broader info available for us alongside articles and Wikipedia. I decided to discard and deleted my outdated three-year-old comments to update this, instead of editing them or pinging them to the admin/mods in the forums. I think this is a 1986-1989 only. If 1989-1993, their front fascias would've been actually feature an inner extension to the headlight units of the front fascia, which seems don't match to this one in question. Exclusive for the 1990-1993 model years, Daihatsu introduces an option for dual headlights in the vans. Earlier 1986-1989 models were actually called the Hijet Zebra, not simply Zebra until its first facelift in 1989. A 1.0-litre CB three-cylinder was the only engine option for 1986-1989; chassis code is [S88]. In 1988, there was an optional alternative grille introduced, but this one here didn't have that option, so negated. 1986-1989: ![]() 1988-1989 with the optional alternative grille: ![]() 1989-1993: ![]() 1990-1993 with the dual headlights option: ![]() Advert/Brochure Sources: Brosur Otomotif Indonesia (YouTube), Iklan Jadul Indonesia (Facebook), GridOto, WarungArsip YT: Compilation of Brochures by Exuray Auto Updated listing reference for admin/moderators: -- Last edit: 2025-07-09 13:06:56 |
