Pick'n'mix #2. Foreground traffic has moved slightly, background has bigger changes. |

Foreground, l to r, Vauxhall Light Six, Austin Seven Ruby. Top row, Austin Ten, Austin Twelve Taxi, Ford Eight Model Y Van. At the back, nearest the bus is a Series II Wolseley with an Austin Ten Cambridge following. -- Last edit: 2014-08-23 17:28:20 |

Interesting for the size comparisons, particularly the Austin sequence 7-10-12 - taxi almost as big as the (mail?) van. Taxi probably the best one to grab here - any detail for ID?? |

Not the Mail, the Star. Newspaper delivery van coach built, probably on a Humber chassis. |

The Star delivery fleet consisted mainly of vans of about 15cwt. Delivery vans of about 1935 in use by the 'Star' were Commers and Morris car-based vans plus even smaller Austin Seven type vans. The van seen here with the side-mounts has a bonnet that is higher than the car-based vans, as the centre of the side-mount wheel is higher than the top of the mud-guards. Not enough seen to identify it I think but its not the 1933 Commer 15cwt. Possibly it has a Morris-Commercial 15cwt chassis. |

The taxi appears to be a Austin 12/4 Low-Loader with Jones body, however we have many Austin 12/4 taxis on IMCDb, perhaps the Ford van is a better choice? The 'Star' newspaper van I think is a Morris-Commercial L2 15cwt van but with nothing to confirm it only overall size and appearance plus the types of vehicle used by the newspaper. |
