EJW 540 = late 47 (EJM = early 58 so impossible). |

1930s rather than 1940s. It appears to be a 1933 Scammell 8-wheel articulated 15-ton truck (Scammell made the complete unit) with Gardener 6LW engine. http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/File:Im1933EnV156-p484.jpg http://archive.commercialmotor.com/page/8th-november-1935/184 |

EJ 1234 plate could match from EJ 3550 (Jan 33) to EJ 6044 (Jan 39) |

While the dates do match it seems a little odd that a Scammell plying its trade in Hull should have been registered in the County of Cardigan. Perhaps EX, Great Yarmouth, is more likely, dated 1933 to 1937 for 3xxx. -- Last edit: 2014-07-27 23:34:31 |

Could be from anywhere if its delivering to the docks I suppose and at 18 year old could have been bought and sold a few times. -- Last edit: 2014-07-28 11:53:21 |

I used to spend a lot of time in Cardiganshire in the early 1960s and the heaviest thing, apart from a Fordson Major was an A35 van! |

![]() I now think the plate is CAM 540 (or maybe 640) = Wiltshire April-Aug 1939, but might be EAM (Sept-Dec 1946). |
