Yes, it's a 92-94 300 SE (3.2) W140. Sad that it explodes...  The S-Klasse in the 3rd thumbnail seems a 94-98 S 280/320. |

I didn't see that image, but I saw a Saab on the Toyota page...I thought they were two separate scenes. I really like the 9000 too, but better a Saab destroyed than a W140...  |

There were 1991s, unbeknownst to me prior to today, that we have documented here in the database. I have two here as examples. I previously thought the W140 was 1992 MY but these two build sheets seem to contradict my previous thought process. /vehicle_199269-Mercedes-Benz-400-SE-W140-1992.html /vehicle_173706-Mercedes-Benz-500-SEL-W140-1991.html Ironically they both appear in Scandinavian (Norway & Sweden) movies. We do have other W140s built in 1991, mostly in Russian flicks, that are German imports that do not bare an 8xx code at all. I guess for consistency we ought to use 1991 as the default year for W140s outside of NA or anywhere that had the debut later on and are considered MY 1992. -- Last edit: 2023-03-26 21:06:14 |

Pre-production for some models started in late 1990, so these should rather be 1991; 300SE seen here said to have started early 1991. Usually these would be used for testing, not sold to end users. Introduced to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1991, for sale April that year, so they would have to produce quite a few cars in advance, though. Interesting, waiting for the next surprise. |
