They did not use the standard ambulances of the era, Caddy's with ambulance mod's but used a lot of International and later Chevy panel truck chassis custom fitted with the ambulance body. These were a precursor to the later van bases ambulances, and since they were on light truck chassis they couldhave higher headroom bodies and more usable space inside than ones mounted on Caddy or Buick car chassis. dr.g.
