Yes with the smooth sided cab fairly sure it is our first Thornycroft 'Swiftsure' http://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p129790859/h33883368#h33c90bb4 -- Last edit: 2014-07-16 12:49:58 |

Introduced September 1958 model should to be Swiftsure HL/JR6 6-Ton. http://www.thornycroft.org.uk/Thornycroft%20Gallery%20group3_files/regs.JPG I believe the earlier Swiftsure AL/JR6-Ton model was introduced in 1955 with the 'waterfall' style cab as on the smaller 'Nippy'. -- Last edit: 2014-07-16 15:12:17 |

As far as I can tell only Swiftsure got this cab. |

Thats what I believe also from a quick search, its only used on the Swiftsure, and then only the later ones. |

The 4-tonner Swift GL/JR6 also had the same cab as the Swiftsure HL/JR6 6-ton if this 1959 preserved example (WOR 934) is to believed... http://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p129790859/h34194ff9#h34194ff9 https://www.flickr.com/photos/16797800@N07/5359210083/ edit: confirmed by Thornycroft advert for both Swift and Swiftsure cab design. Therefore Oldsmobile1897's orininal comment for Swift is also applicable but deciding between Swift 4-ton and Swiftsure 6-ton is a problem based on the movie picture of the vehicle. Also the same cab was used with twin headlamps on the larger Thornycroft Mastiff (with a front wheel step-ring). -- Last edit: 2014-07-17 13:32:24 |
