Appears to have a Snipe bonnet mascot, but split windscreen looks unusual for 1945 Snipe/Super Snipe? |

Yes , this is also a Prewar Humber Six of 1937/8 vintage. But the car looks somewhat shorter than the other one on this site and is probably the 16 hp on the shorter chassis. It is not a Humber Super Snipe :those were only introduced in 1939 by mounting the 21 hp six on this shorter chassis.A similar model was depicted by Hergé in the first edition of Tintin's adventures in " L'île noire" tracting a caravan. In the revised editions it was replaced by a Triumph Herald Convertible. |

According to http://mapage.noos.fr/dardelf3/tintin/ it was a 1935 Vauxhall. But a 1937 Humber was used in this same book as the bad guys car, replaced by a Jaguar Mk.X in the revised edition. -- Last edit: 2006-12-08 10:13:45 |
