I owned one of those. Enjoyable to drive but I'm sure these cars were already starting to rust on the ships that brought them over from Japan. When I got rid of it only three years later, I could easily push my finger through the front fenders. The fenders looked like Swiss cheese. I actually drove it to the scrapyard! The car magazines, at the time, called it the "poor man's BMW". Yeah, sure... I, myself, would have called it "the poor man's rust bucket". Japanese cars are generally low-end. The Japanese often put the emphasis on the poor. For example, Mitsubishi Lancer used to be called "The car of thieves" in Hong Kong, because Hong Kong thieves usually drove Mitsubishi Lancer!
