electra225 ◊ 2014-05-26 17:43	dsl wrote Mid 58 plate. The plate could be 1958 but the car is 1957 because early in 1958 the headlight bezels were altered along with the launch of the Estate version. Their shape was more in the American look as they were forward at the top.

I had to look this up, and the exact sequence for S1 is: Feb 57 saloon launch as Standard and Super versions Aug 57 hooded headlamp rims Oct 57 medallion on bootlid March 58 Estate launched Sept 58 Exhaust pipe now on nearside below bumper (instead of through the bumper). Door pillars and frames painted instead of stainless steel, drip mouldings stainless steel instead of painted. Jan 59 stooped ahead of Feb 59 S2 launch. There may have been a change in boot trim as well from comments at /vehicle_171023-Vauxhall-Victor-F-1957.html and /vehicle_171013-Vauxhall-Victor-F-1958.html unless the chrome separated Standard and Super versions.
