After "C" as "Citroen", it's time to "C" as "Corbillard", french word for "Hearse" :)

special for our "Hearse Aficionado" Junkman ;) ... maybe he'll apreciate these vehicles. A special mention to our Carchase fanatic too! :D , because there is a "hearsechase" in one scene :)

Could be based on a postwar 1951 Opel Blitz chassis???

PS bonnet hatch side portholes recalls me also postwar Buicks

For the film is obviously French, I´d rather guess this hearse was based on some Renault or Citroen chassis. I never heard of an Opel Blitz rebodied as a hearse in France and it would be highly uncommon. At least I know of a similar hearse, based on a Citroen truck chassis.

Supposedly they inserted these "ventiports" to resemble a Buick from that era.

I would think U23 simply on the grounds that nothing else is really plausible.
Coachwork could be by Le Bastard, however, there were countless coachbuilders at the time and one copied from the other.

The plate is from 1951, if it helps.
