1999+ due to painted bumper (introduced on ML430 that year, and ML320 the following year). Edit: 2000+ due to GPS/telephone antenna at back of roof. Doesn't California require license plates on the front of the car as well? How come the ML in this shot has no front plate? In this other shot here, you can also see 2 cars that don't have any front plates as well: /vehicle_704632-Infiniti-I30-A32-1996.html (The Infiniti I30 and the Nissan (?) in the background). -- Last edit: 2019-02-22 23:11:30 |

The ML was facelifted in 2001, which is when this episode aired, so it might be a brand new one from a dealer which does not have a plate (yet). |

Yes required to have front plate. It's a common thing to see high dollar luxury and sports car not have front plates because owners don't want the front of their vehicle marred by a license plate. Such as Tesla, Maserati, Ferarri, etc. -- Last edit: 2014-06-30 02:35:24 |

They should give people the choice in the USA of what size plate they want, like they do here in Australia. We can choose either normal (full size) plates, slim plates, or slim and long plates (European style). Recently, we also have the option of US-sized plates as well (i.e. slightly taller and less wide than our full size ones). This way, you can choose the right size plate to suit your car. -- Last edit: 2014-07-05 19:03:50 |

That's nice you get to choose the size of your plates. |
