Agreed - late sidelights and plastic wheel trims. Has either lost the shield front grille or is 93my only for sidelights without shield grille. -- Last edit: 2022-08-22 00:55:40 |

Poverty trim (no tints, sunroof, or any shiny trim) which for 92-93 was 214 Si or 218SD only, if I followed UK trims, but it does have remote central locking as no keyhole on passenger door. There was a very basic 214S, but that finished Feb 92, and another very basic relaunch as 214i in April 93, but without remote locking and some confusion in sources whether it was 3-door only or extended to 5 door. |

@dsl, in Italy in 1992-93 we got as 5-doors: 214 Si, 214 Si Cambridge and 214 GSi. A basic 214i was added in spring 1993, and we didn't get any 214 S or 218 SD (only 218 GSD and since January 1993, before that the diesel was reserved to the 400). We also got a 214 Si Sport, but only as 3-doors (only 3-doors other than 216 GTi and later 220 GTi). I think here the Si had central locking and power windows, but I have to check. I imagine this would likely be a 214 Si? -- Last edit: 2022-08-22 00:44:10 |

Yes - by elimination with your info, 214 Si becomes the only option. And my instinct was 214 Si when I first saw it. Never heard of a 214 Si Cambridge - must be an Italian special. Any clue what it was - we had mid-level SLi trim between Si and GSi, so likely similar?? |

Rear headrests and these trims actually suggest a higher version, SLi or GSi. I think sunroof was always an option even on the higher versions? -- Last edit: 2022-08-22 00:58:51 |

It's the lack of a sunroof which points to Si - I had a run of 3 SLis as lease cars at the time, all with sunroofs, which is confirmed in Glass's. |

Maybe the higher spec European cars were sent with air conditioning rather than the sunroof? 214 GSI with no sunroof: Link to "i0.wp.com" https://www.flickr.com/photos/xbxg/6525782495 -- Last edit: 2022-08-22 01:19:47 |

Don't know about specs outside UK, but agree it makes sense to delete sunroof if air con fitted. Maybe this becomes the mysterious 214 Si Cambridge (if that equates with UK SLi)?? |

I checked my Quattroruote price lists and: We didn't get any SLi trim before 1994 (but only 216 and 218 TD), No version had standard sunroof (but was always optional, except on 1993+ 214i), 214i and Si had optional power windows and central locking, it seems that Si Cambridge had these items as standard (maybe was similar to SLi?), Rear headrests weren't mentioned in the options, so they were either absent or standard (logic would suggest absent on Si and standard on GSi? Not sure about the Si Cambridge, I can't even find a picture), Also the car in the movie has woodgrain interior, so maybe it's a GSi? -- Last edit: 2022-08-22 01:50:31 |

It's a good match for the French GSI in my first link for wheel design and the headrests so I think that's the most likely version. I suspect a product placement as there is also an 800 Coupe and a Discovery here so high spec version makes some sense. I'd expect an Si to have the hubcaps that look like Metro ones, I did think at first these were a different size of wheel, but it seems non sporting versions all had 14" wheels. Yes, this movie was sponsored by Rover Group Italy I'm leaning towards GSi too, I remember the wheelcovers in your link also here indeed. I have just a doubt about the Si Cambridge, I'll try to get more informations about that. |

^^ They all had wood trim from Si upwards - helped make it a very classy interior even in the lowly versions. But no argument if this goes to GSi I remember these as very enjoyable cars - comfortable, good to drive, and a cut above the other stuff (Ford, Vauxhall etc) we used to get as fleet/rental fodder at the time. I also had a soft spot for first Primeras and 405s but the 214s were my favourites. I sometimes wonder if I had a go in one now, 30 years later if it would still match up to fond memories. |
