This movie features a beautiful BMW 733i E23 US specs., 1978 model (very new at the time); owned by Alan Arkin's character. It was equipped with alloy wheels, black leather seats and open roof. In one scene, near the half movie, it was driven quite aggressively, chased by some police cars. Good footage and some amazing stunts (reverse spin, slides...). This scene lasts about 3 minuts. Nothing dramatic but good for BMW fans. At the end of the chase, it entered in a repainting-car room, and come out from it with ugly flames on the hood, but fortunately they were clearly fake stickers. |

I'm glad you included such a good description of the car Benny. I just saw that scene this past weekend. The early E23's were very cool-looking when new. Really sharp-looking in silver. |

"I have flames on my car. I HAVE FLAMES ON MY CAR!" Great film. I'll have to see if I can locate a clip, although I think I only have this one on a very old VHS tape. I love where the "Car Wash" style attendant says something along the lines of "if won't fade, peel or crack and the best part is you can't paint over it." Serpentine, Shelly, Serpentine!!! Of course those that remember there was a Mercedes 240D (or something like it) in that scene. -- Last edit: 2008-09-08 19:52:25 |

Two shots of the BMW, one with the flames:![]() ![]() Now, the question is, which one are you going to choose as the main pic? -- Last edit: 2009-03-22 22:50:29 |

I actually kinda like the flames... could've looked a lot worse, to be honest. |

Here's a view of it without the flames, and the badge to confirm it's 733i:![]() ![]() |
