Escort not Orion (despite plate info). DVLA details for E488 BNE are: Date of Liability 01 01 1999 Date of First Registration 27 06 1988 Year of Manufacture 1988 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1596cc CO₂ Emissions Not Available Fuel Type PETROL Export Marker N Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour RED Vehicle Type Approval Not Available |

It's not an error between Orion/Escort on the info, it's a totally switched plate, this is an Escort 1.4 Ghia (with wheel trims from a lower model and I think an Orion grille). Same plate here: /vehicle_689654-MCW-Metrocab-1989.html 4220: 4221: |

This looks like the Sept 88 Firefly edition (5 door 1.4 or 1.6, pretend Ghia in Radiant Red only, maybe 1349 built). Wheel trims and body colour mirrors are strong clues. Some info here (scroll down) |

This isn't a "pretend Ghia" though, it has Ghia on the bootlid and the front wing. Also doesn't have the right side mouldings to be that edition (not body coloured). Ghia had body coloured mirrors too and loads of chrome bits, like here. -- Last edit: 2021-05-14 20:35:40 |

Probably "pretend Ghia" was the wrong phrase - Firefly was a Ghia edition - but a book reference is fairly sarcastic about it as a lazy creation. Not sure what the problem with side mouldings is - compare - and the faint yellow coachlines look matching. |
