Hello JCB. The tank and instruments on the bike really look like those on a '73 TX750. On the other hand, the motor doesn't look at all like it's a TX750. The engine cases are very different and I can't see a spark plug on the side of the head.

To me, that motor looks much more like the one on an RD350! It's like they put an RD motor in the frame of the larger bike. I know, it sounds absurd but those '73 TX's had serious reliability problems. I don't think they would have lasted until 1979 in police service. Could this bike have been "built" for this movie. Having not seen the film, I wonder if it was shown moving under it's own power... For me, it's a mystery.

You may be right , but the photo of engine is not very clear.
If it is a real Police bike I cannot imagine HK police messing about with complex engine swaps , they would just buy new.

I agree! But, if it's just a movie prop?

Again I cannot see anyone taking on such a complex engine swap , why not just buy a runner and convert it , but hey ho I maybe wrong :)

Definitely not a TX (I had one), reliability problems were sorted on the "B" model with the sump extension plate, that stopped the counterbalancer whipping the oil into a froth.

That bike is an early RD250/350 with a paint job reminiscent of a TX, the TX650 & 500's also had similar paint/graphics around '73-74.
