What I've been able to find out about this car:

- PM 1 last recorded on a blue Bentley saloon, registered Aug 1990, currently SORN but has a couple of months left on MOT. Unknown if Paul ever owned the plate or just a bit of film fantasy, but here's the Bentley
- Paul apparently owned a Popular in his pre-Beatles days
- this Popular according to end credits (above) was built by Geoff Cousins who's done a few Pop/Anglia hot rods. Seems it was built with a Rover/Buick V8. Unclear if Paul ever owned it.
- Beatles sites say it was bought by the film company to be given away as a prize to promote the film, and won by two sisters in New York. This explains the US plate in the online photo from Fixer55 above, and

both from here
- another photo found online

shows VJH 645 plate, issued Hertfordshire (so unlikely to be Paul's actual pre-fame Popular, which was a bit unlikely anyway)
Make FORD
Model POPULAR
✗ Untaxed Tax due: 01 October 1983
MOT Exempt
Date of first registration: September 1955
Cylinder capacity (cc): 3500 cc
Fuel type: PETROL
Export marker: No
Vehicle status: Not taxed
Vehicle colour: BLACK
Apart from saying it's not been exported, DVLA info looks good - including the late 1983 untaxed date.
- apparently all the interior scenes in film - a mainly pink/red interior with long column, stupid little wooden ring steering wheel, 2 seater with seats where original back seats were, tacky gizmos like a computer screen and a big red plastic car phone - filmed by cutting up another Pop/Anglia, so not relevant to this car
