Yes. Cannot tell Commander vs Champion from view shown. -- Last edit: 2014-03-25 22:28:35 |

More likely a Champion. |

Why? Styling was identical from the front in '51. Too far away to make out hood emblem style or tiny nameplates at hood crease. |

I say more likely a Champion because in the restricted post WW2 market the majority of imports were of the lesser models, so there would have been very few Commanders imported. |

We don't normally assume and list a particular model simply because it's more likely. We just list as "unknown", pending further info. A rear view of this car would reveal the model (Commanders had a trunk lid V-8 emblem) or an extreme front close up showing detail of the hood emblem or the nameplate. |

No other shots of the car, unfortunately. |

Upon reading nzcarnerd's posts again I believe he was just commenting on the fact that the car is more likely a Champion, not that we should list it that way. My apologies. -- Last edit: 2014-04-23 03:23:18 |

When not more identifiable, then the "most likely" name is usually used... Or else it should be listed without model name at all. -- Last edit: 2014-04-04 15:48:00 |

Done. |

Odds are it's a Champion - only 61 Studebaker cars were imported into Australia in 1951, mostly Champions, with a handful of Land Cruisers. 97 in 1952. |
