Only one pre production Mustang was realest to the public and it had the VIN 5F08F100001 (1965), so this one is a 1965. 1965 Mustangs were produced from March 1964 to September 1965. From wikipedia: "Since it was introduced five months before the normal start of the 1965 production year and manufactured alongside 1964 Ford Falcons and 1964 Mercury Comets, the earliest Mustangs are widely referred to as the 1964½ model.[17] A more accurate description is the "early 1965" model because it underwent significant changes at the beginning of the regular model year. All the early cars, however, were marketed by Ford as 1965 models." Question: Was there a 1964 model year Ford Mustang? I have read it. Yet another claim that the world is flat does not make the world flat. We live in the real world, not a fantasy universe caused by an idiot in one of Ford's clerical departments filling in obtuse forms. How - according to Mustang fantasy universe rules - can a photo exist of a Mustang with 1964 on its plate?? |

I expect that referred to the calendar year. Sthor is dead right. All repeat ALL productions Mustangs produced in 1964 were serial-coded as 1965 models. Period. This "64" and "64 1/2" business was attached to these early '65 cars in later years by the motoring press, NOT Ford Motor Co. I was around when these cars were new and fresh off the assembly line.
