Everything about this lawn mower says its a Simplicity. Owned one myself back in high school. Not the same model but all the parts and body pieces look about the same.

wasnt this model called a Simplicity Estate?

Not sure about that. Mine was a front wheel powered and had rear wheel steering. All cable driven with the mower deck out front.

The Estate was the entry model, much like the cheapest model of a Craftsman, Yardman, Murray, ect. I currently have a Simplicity Express 42/14.5, I love it, even got a beer holder on it,

AMC man wrote I am sorry but this is know Simplicity this is a Murry rear engine riding mower Murry is a new make on this site!

Do you have any proof to support your claim?

I do see the resemblance to the Murray 8/30 (8 horsepower, 30-inch cut):
Link to "media.photobucket.com" (this one was bought new in 1986 according to the site I found it at)

The cowl on the front may have been added to give Gonzo's puppeteer somewhere to hide.

The question does remain as to why AMC man himself couldn't have done what I just did. Also, the make is spelled Murray. On the internet, 'murry' means something completely different.

I agree 100% with CougarTim. Murray 8/30 it is.

Also, I never knew they made red mowers. I thought they were always painted black...well, you learn something new every day, right?

No idea. :p

Seriously though, who's the funny guy here? This time AMC man actually identified something correctly. :/

We don't know for sure that the front cowl was added on for the movie so due to what it says on the front cowl I suggest you list is as Murray 500 XL rather than Murray 830.

If it is an admin who deleted that, indeed it is quite stupid... (especially since now other comments look meaning less without the original ones...)
but it could be you too: two comments where deleted by you, two by an admin :p

tom11 wrote Extra info ''rear engine riding mower''.

no need to list that.

Also I think we need to make some mention of this ''500-XL'' it says on it, like list it as Murray 500-XL or list it as Murray 8/30 500-XL.

The box on the front is made by the prop department and so is the text on it. It should obviously not be listed.

I was thinking at least ''As 500-XL'' in the extra info.

You need to learn to quit while you're ahead. You were right about it being a Murray. Leave it alone.
