possibly a Ford Aerostar |

If it is, it's ironic because the car behind it is the Ford Windstar. |

A propos Ford Windstar: there was a short article in the local newspaper from my parents' area. This week in their next village a LPG-powered Ford Windstar (brand and model were named) started to burn while driving. The six passengers were not harmed, but the car was destroyed. But even if it would be only partly damaged, it would be a total loss, if you note, how worthless the Windstar is over here: Link to "suchen.mobile.de" |

I've read the owners surveys and these vans seem to be awful.Completely unreliable. I don't see a lot with more than 130,000 miles, whereas most vehicles since the late 90s can go 200,000. Why did Europe get our worst cars? The Windstar, and the Chryslers with bad transmissions and engine sludging problems. No wonder our cars arent popular there. They mostly got our worst crap. |

You should be grateful you didn't get the first Ford Ka! That thing may look cute, but it is a complete shitbox, constantly coming in last place at the TÜV inspection. I hate it as much as ingo hates the first New Beetle! (which I actually like, but only the 1999-2004 version!) Quote from Urban Dictionary-Ford Ka: 1. Ford KA A Vehicle made by the Ford Motor Corporation. -Ultra low quality styling -Lowest grade assembling (even low quality chinese factories believed it was crap) -Has about as much appeal as Grandma Porn -Has a engine that would struggle to power a lawn mower -Does the quarter mile somewhere between tuesday and friday -Causes Instant embarrassment for the driver who should invest in a paper bag for their head. -Last of all you would be more safe juggling sticks of highly dangerous uranium rather than having an accident in one. (eg. Better chance of surviving a nuclear fallout) Character 1: Did you hear that James got a Ford KA? Character 2: Its not funny to make jokes like that Character 1: I'm Serious! Character 2: What an absolute cock-bag... James is the lowest form of life and doesn't deserve to live, buying a ford Ka is like worshiping the devil, he is a danger to society and should be shot on sight... -- Last edit: 2013-12-07 18:54:57 |

Togo's sandwich shop in the background. Better than Subway. |

A colleague had a first gen Ford Ka (her father worked at a Ford-dealership). Once she told me, that the engine was defect - the cmshaft was broken in half. The camshaft!! And that just by smooth driving in town. No Ford-warranty-cause, no way, no discussion. And no explanation, how this defect could have happend. Well, I already hated Ford since a longer time, since the mid-90ies. Back then Ford Germany had offered something like the official Abwrackprämie/scrappage sheme/cash for clunkers some years later. A high price for your used car, which was crushed then without exceptions. Terrible many classics or nearly classics were among them. So since then Ford is the ultimate shit-company for me And I would never accept a Ford in my household. I already told my wife "When you ever would buy a Ford, I'll kick you out of the garage at our house, off the two parking lots on our property, too. Then you can look for a parking anywhere in the village, but not on our private ground" |

Widespread in the USA? I cannot remember any of them at our last US-travellings. Subway ws o.k. for us. But only there, overe here it's too overpriced (nd not very successful, many Subways here are closed down again). |

Never even heard of Togos. I don't know about European Fords but American Fords are better nowadays. The Focus had a rough start, with 13 recalls, but eventually they worked the bugs out and it became a highly rated car. The Fusion is becoming well-known for reliability. Its not unusual to see an Explorer running past 200,000 miles. Chrysler still builds the worst lemons in America. They are yet to make a somewhat trustworthy model. |

Over here it's said, that the Focus I was the first acceptable reliable German Ford since the 1948 "Buckeltaunus" and the pre-WWII-Fords as V8 and Modell A. All the decades between 1948 and 1997 The German Fords were always the worst locally built cars. The reputation of Chrysler was and still is really bad over here. Noone understood it, why Mercedes Benz made the fusion with Chrysler back in 1998. It would be bad for the premium reputation of Mercedes Benz - which has happened indeed. Long-time-car-fans still had Chrysler in mind from the times of Chrysler-Simca in the early 70ies - as a synonyme for the worst, unreliable and rust-affine cars at all. The reputation was even worse than of the COMECON-clunkers as Lada and Skoda. And nowadays it's not better, since Chrysler had merged with Fiat/Lancia, brands with are notorious known for bad quality, too. My own experiences with US-Chrysler weren't that good either. In 2008 (round trip N.Y.,Niagara Falls,Pennsylvania,Washington D.C.,N.J.) and in 2012 (Florida) we had both times a brand new "Town & Country" - and they were shit. -- Last edit: 2013-12-09 11:35:31 |
