This is one of thirty-six 'Gay Hostess' coaches new in 1960 and 1961 to Ribble and their subsidiaries W.C. Standerwick and Scout Motor Services (four in total were delivered to Scout). This batch was fitted with fifty armchair style Chapman seats in CH34/16FT configuration, luggage space above the front nearside wheelarch and below the stairs on the lower saloon, with a toilet and rear servery area. Power was provided from Leyland's 150bhp 0.680 engine coupled to a semi-automatic gearbox, with air suspension on the front axle (later replaced with leaf suspension), resulting in a top speed of 64mph.  Ribble provided an 'aircraft style' experience, with couriers providing a hostess service (hence the 'Gay Hostess' name) of food, drinks and cigarettes. Today, only one example survives with the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust.
